2020 was a big year for Quinn’s Pins. Although lockdown ruined a solid 10 months of the year (shout out to January and February 2020- those were the days of fresh air and friends) I spent the majority of it building the shop – seeing as there was not a lot else to do and client work got quieter with the circumstances! Me and Dan (who also works Freelance as a Web Designer) had been looking at moving out for the past year, and December 2020 we finally got the keys to our new home! Which, as hectic as it was, ended up making Christmas orders easier to send out with a whole desk to make messy with packing goods! Here are some pictures of the Quinns Pins Studio thus far…
You hear a lot about moving out and getting a Mortgage- how slow Solicitors are, the amount of documents you have to sign, feeling like you’re waiting around for absolutely nothing- it’s all true, and on top of that we’re both Freelance, so that was one extra step we had to battle! (if anyone wants a Youtube video on moving out as a Freelancer, let me know) Due to Covid-19, we were only able to view our potential future home once before deciding whether we wanted to go for it (which we only really figured out after viewing it) but luckily I loved it as soon as we entered, and I had an awful, shaky video to watch back on in case I missed anything (I was so excited there’s barely any actual good footage, just quick pans of the rooms)
Pinterest and Ikea have been my besties with decorating and plans for the office. When we were allowed, we had a huge Ikea spree and managed to get the essentials (desks, dining table bedroom furniture) and had a full evening of assembling everything- although I must say I didn’t assemble too much, which was probably for the best, I was the coffee maker and TikTok producer.
I’ve found it a lot easier to work from home with an office. Everything has its place! Plus there’s something about working from an actual desk that makes you more productive. 2020 was the biggest Christmas Quinn’s Pins has had so far (thank you!!) It was lovely to spend the days packing orders and seeing different order combinations being sent to friends and family. It’s also given me a lot of inspiration for new products this year. I’m planning a new product launch in February, one of the products being Mirror Decals- which I’ve been experimenting with and every mirror I own has a decal or two on at the minute!
We’ve now been here for just over a month now and it’s starting to feel like home! There’s still more bits we need to buy, but the decorating is the fun part. I’m also awful at decision making so it’ll probably take a while to finish the place. But I’m SUPER excited for Quinn’s Pins in 2021, I used to say that once I’d moved out and had a proper workspace, that I’d find it easier and more fun to design and release new products- so let’s hope thats true!
